AUSTIN, TX -- University spin-out firm Emergent Technologies Inc. announced that it raised $27 million from family offices and institutional investors and closed its Fund IV.

The group specializes in commercializing biotechnology research that has been developed by University of Texas System campuses.

Investor Red McCombs said, "We have been looking for an opportunity to fill the gap between the large amount of research funding going into university systems and the limited commercial success of the resulting technologies.  ETI has the first model that we have seen which consistently and successfully created marketable products form these innovations."
